The ‘Meal for Smile’ initiative launched by the students of the premier institute, IIT Patna, turned out to be a great success. Organized in collaboration with Rainbow Foundation India, the initiative saw tech geeks sharing smiles with the kids in an orphanage. The student-run committee managed to raise a staggering fund of about 90 thousand through social media outreach and open donations. The students arranged meals for about 400 kids and along with some modest donations shared the joy with fun games. ‘It was indeed endearing to see students’ efforts to bring happiness to the children’ says Himanshu Barua, Fest Coordinator of Anwesha’18.
Anwesha is IIT Patna’s annual techno-cultural fest scheduled for 2nd Feb to 4th Feb. And with its social presence, the fest is surely going to make a positive difference. Its humble ideology ‘Think Dream Live’ echoes with social compassion of which ‘Meal for Smile’ is a great example.
I’m an avid reader, a foodie, and a movie buff; who is passionate about the positivity around us. I love to dream and convert those dreams into words. At one moment I’m inside a shell and the very next moment I’m the ferocious one. Dynamism is my forte.
Apart from being a dreamer, I’m also a woman with a beating heart and a curious mind questioning traditional social norms. I’m a rebel at one moment and just opposite at the very next moment. My fuel is the smile of my son, the happiness of my family, and lots of coffee.
I’m also not ashamed of spending money on buying books and to fill my (always empty) stomach.
